KYFR - Family Radio in Shenandoah, IA

KYFR went on the air in Shenandoah, Iowa on January 8, 1977 operating daily from 6:00am to 11:00pm. A few months later, KYFR began a 24 hour-a-day schedule and in July 1982, the transmitting power was increased from 1000 watts to 5000 watts, sending our signal into the four corners of Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas and Missouri. Family Radio could now be heard in Omaha, Lincoln, Topeka and Kansas City as well as thousands of smaller, rural communities.

KYFR is also a "hub" station, overseeing the management of seven other Family Radio stations in the Upper Midwest: KDFR at 91.3FM in Des Moines, Iowa, KPOR at 90.7FM in Emporia, Kansas, KKAA at 1560AM in Aberdeen, South Dakota, KQKD at 1380AM in Redfield, South Dakota, KBFR at 91.7FM in Bismarck, North Dakota, KEGR at 89.5FM in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and KQFR at 88.9FM in Rapid City, South Dakota.

What is Family Radio?

Officially known as "Family Stations, Inc.", Family Radio is a non-profit, non-commercial, radio network headquartered in Oakland, California which broadcasts the music and message of "New Life" in Jesus Christ.
With radio stations located near many major cities throughout the United States, Family Radio broadcasts 24 hours-a-day, everyday, the message of Salvation through Faith in Jesus Christ. We call it "Family Radio" because, not only do we provide programming for all members of your family, our primary goal is the growth of, and ministry to, God's family...those who, by faith in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit's work, have been "Born Again".

Established in 1958, Family Radio has grown to a worldwide ministry with over 50 domestic AM and FM radio stations along with shortwave, international, satellite, Internet, translator and television broadcasting, relying entirely on it's listener's donations. Family Radio is very fundamental in it's belief and purpose, and stands out from other radio or TV ministries in it's faithful reliance on the Bible as the ONLY infallible authority.
